“No parent is perfect; we all can look back and think of things we could’ve done to help our children be better prepared for adulthood. And sometimes it’s best to admit it to them and encourage them to learn from our mistakes.” – Billy Graham
As I plan the thought for this week, I’m sitting in my study, praying for the world. Today, The Rev. Dr. Billy Graham was admitted into heaven. Dr. Graham had ties here in Texas. His brother-in-law, The Rev. Dr. Clayton Bell, was the pastor of Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Dr. Graham preached multiple times at the old Texas Stadium in Irving. I was blessed to have been in attendance at Texas Stadium during his last evangelical tour.
As I sit here, I remember another quote: “I am not going to Heaven because I have preached to great crowds or read the Bible many times. I’m going to Heaven just like the thief on the cross who said in that last moment: ‘Lord, remember me.’” Somehow I feel that the welcome will also include: “Well done, My good and faithful servant.”
This week, remember those faithful servants who have been an inspiration to and for you, and try to be the inspiration for and to others.
